The GAVI Alliance is a leading public-private partnership devoted to saving children's lives and protecting people's health by increasing access to immunisation in poor countries.

GAVI manages a programme of more than US$ 4 billion and has pioneered innovative financing and performance-based approaches to international development aid.

GAVI is an independent Swiss foundation that combines public sector and corporate governance approaches. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, chairs an influential Board of senior individuals from governments, partner organisations and the private sector.

Reporting to the CEO, the General Counsel is responsible for providing independent legal advice and managing legal affairs for the GAVI Alliance and coordinating outside counsel for all of its affiliated entities, the GAVI Fund, the GAVI Fund Affiliate and IFFIm. The General Counsel is responsible for managing a small team based in Geneva and for providing overall strategic legal advice and support to the GAVI Board and management. This is a truly exciting role for a senior attorney with 8-10 years of progressively responsible work with multilateral or international organisations and 3-4 years experience with private sector clients, preferably in connection with health or development projects. Candidates will have strong diplomatic skills and the ability to deal at highest levels, proven team management experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position is based at the GAVI Alliance Secretariat in Geneva.
